After weeks of intensive searching by RCMP and search and rescue members, there is still no sign of May Milling, the 81-year-old Gibsons woman who was reported missing Sept. 2.

"We had a co-ordinated effort between all the detachments up and down the Highway 5 corridor from Jasper Valemont down to Clearwater Barriere and down to Kamloops, with assistance from our air services support," said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk, senior media relations' officer/south east and north district. "They were confident in saying they had a good look at 95 per cent of the ground that they wanted to look at carefully."

Moskaluk said RCMP may revisit the possibility of conducting more searches after most of the tree foliage has come down and before the snow flies, but right now there is little information to go on. He said there has been no evidence of a car leaving the road anywhere along the 460-km stretch of road between Jasper and Kamloops.

Moskaluk said RCMP are continuing to monitor Milling's bank accounts, but there has been no activity since Milling was last seen leaving Jasper.

"At this point in time, we consider she is missing. We don't have any indications of foul play, but we have an outstanding missing person," he said. "It's very tough, and we sympathize with the family who are stateside and are waiting and hopeful as to what exactly has happened here."

Anyone who sees Milling or her dark blue 2009 four-door Buick Lucerne with B.C. licence plate 147 LHF is asked to contact their local RCMP.
