Wakefield Home Builders Inc. has signed on to be the construction project manager for the new visitor information park project in Gibsons.
President Lance Spar-ling, business development Ray Dierolf and Leighton Bell, site project manager, were on hand at the Gibsons and District Chamber of Commerce (GDCC) office on Dec. 22 to officially sign the agreement to spearhead the construction.
The project, previously announced by the Gibsons Chamber, will be located at the top of the Highway 101 bypass on Stewart Road.
"The GDCC team and all our contributing partners are excited to be able to bring to Sunshine Coast visitors and residents a valuable orientation park that will provide information on points of interest, events, festival info, key locations of shops, lodging, visitor centres and businesses on the entire Sunshine Coast from Langdale to Lund," said a news release from the Chamber. "There will be restroom facilities, a pet exercise area, bicycle racks, picnic tables, maps and signage to find out what is available and where on the Sunshine Coast."
According to the Chamber, already confirmed as key contributors of in-kind products and services are Burtnick Enterprises and Bonniebrook Industries. For the next few months, local businesses will have the opportunity to get involved in creating this needed community amenity. Follow the progress of the project at www.gibsonschamber.com, as more Sunshine Coast businesses, organizations, governments and groups contribute their expertise, resources and in-kind or financial support.
