New president elected to board

Celia Robben has been appointed the new president of Sunshine Coast Tourism. After dedicating close to 10 years of time and effort, both Judy Spears and Chris McNaughton are stepping down from their respective roles as president and vice-president.

After dedicating close to 10 years of time and effort, both Judy Spears and Chris McNaughton are stepping down from their respective roles as president and vice-president. Spears will remain on the board as a key advisor to Robben and two new vice-presidents, Eagle Walz (community relations) and Charlene SanJenko (marketing). All three have held other positions within SCT and are well versed on the organization's past, present and future strategies.

"We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Judy and Chris as they have done an incredible job bringing the organization to where it is today," said Robben, "We're all eager to continue a steady progress towards creating a year-round tourism industry for the entire Sunshine Coast, from Howe Sound to Desolation Sound."

In 2006, Robbenmoved to the Sunshine Coastwith her husband Stan and opened Arcturus Retreat Bed & Breakfast. She has been active in the community since her arrival to the Coast as the previous vice-president (marketing) of SCT (for 1.5 years) and president of the Sunshine Coast Bed & Breakfast, Cottage Owners Association (SCBBCOA) for two years. She has served on the SCBBCOA board for five years. She also volunteers with Grandmothers & Grandothers raising funds for the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

The entire board of SCT is made up of a dedicated group of volunteers that are passionate about building a strong and vibrant tourism industry on the Coast. They are a diverse group with backgrounds from various industry sectors and represent both the lower and upper Coast.
