As the Sunshine Coast population continues to grow, Sechelt Hospital’s Pharmacy department has faced increasing demands for a growing inventory of medications, some of which require proper storage in a freezer. The hospital pharmacy approached Sechelt Hospital Foundation for a pharmaceutical grade freezer.

In early 2022, the Hospital Foundation was contacted by the Keystone of Life Foundation and members of the Royal Arch Freemasons, affiliated with the Masonic Lodge in Roberts Creek, who wanted to support our local hospital with an important piece of medical equipment.

With the increasing demands on the health care system, including the Maternity Unit at Sechelt Hospital, the chances of higher risk deliveries grows on the Sunshine Coast. Specialized medications are required to help with some premature infant deliveries. These medications require storage in a pharmaceutical grade freezer to maintain product efficacy and integrity. The purchase of this equipment allows for proper storage and safety of frozen medication products. An additional benefit to the hospital population is the future storage of new and emerging products such as COVID-19 vaccinations.
