A new endowment at the Sunshine Coast Foundation has been established in memory of Jennifer Gray, an active contributor to life on the Sunshine Coast before her death from cancer last summer.

Helping others and giving back to the community had always been a priority and passion for Jen. After obtaining a degree in social work, she started as a juvenile probation officer, then worked as a parole officer, and finally found her true calling in vocational rehabilitation. Job training and fundraising for those in need had always been a big part of her life. Retirement brought Jen to the Sunshine Coast where she and her husband, Bob, carefully planned out and built their dream home and gardens in Halfmoon Bay.

Always eager to help a worthy cause, Jen put her skills to work for the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary. First working at the Sechelt thrift store, then taking on leadership roles in the Halfmoon Bay branch, Jen ultimately served at the executive level for many years. She took great pride in leading the establishment of the Auxiliary granting program, which has benefited many organizations on the Coast.

Jen and Bob enjoyed travelling extensively and cherished spending time with their grandson, Austin.

In Jen’s memory, Bob has established the Jennifer Gray Memorial Endowment. Each year, the Sunshine Coast Foundation will award a grant from the endowment to a local charity addressing health and wellness or social development.

Those wishing to honour Jen’s memory by supporting these causes may donate to the endowment established in her memory. Please visit www.sunshinecoastfoundation.org or contact the Sunshine Coast Foundation at 604.741.7360 or ED@sunshinecoastfoundation.org.
