The New Democrats are moving forward with its provincial election review as the party searches for answers after their stunning defeat in May.
In an email to party supporters on Friday, July 19, the party said its executive voted July 18 to appoint a five-person panel to review the disappointing results of the 2013 provincial election.
The five panel members are: Eugene Kostyra, former Manitoba cabinet minister and senior advisor to Premier Gary Doer, Cindy Oliver, president of the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of BC, Andy Ross, former president of Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union Local 378, Pam Sihota, student at law in Terrace, and Jinny Sims, Member of Parliament for Newton-North Delta.
"In the coming days and weeks, the panel will begin to meet and formulate their plans for the review, including opportunities for NDP members and supporters to participate in the process," said the media release. "They will be working under broad terms of reference, examining all aspects of the campaign, and the work and decisions that went into it."
Once this review is complete it is expected that a leadership review will also take place.
