B.C. Ferries said it will require more time to make the new public float at the Langdale ferry terminal accessible to the public.

The company has experienced construction delays and adverse weather, but said the float should be available early this month.

"We had some bad weather in the last couple of weeks. So what we're doing, we're continuing to watch how it behaves to make sure it's safe and stable," said public affairs manager Darin Guenette.

So far access to the dock has been restricted to the MV Stormaway while engineers take note of the particular characteristics of the dock under different weather conditions.
