Missing 30-year-old Coaster Christine Sharp has been located in Victoria and is currently in care at a hospital on the island.
"She was located and is safe," said Sunshine Coast RCMP Cpl. Steven Chubey.
Sharp went missing on June 4 while on a day pass from St. Mary's Hospital. Her sister Candace Sharp put up a missing person post on Facebook last week and soon dozens of Coasters joined the search for the missing woman with a history of mental instability.
By Thursday, June 14 Candace had received word that her sister may be in Victoria and the rumour was confirmed when Christine called home on June 15.
"I was happy to hear from her, but I was also very concerned at the fact she was saying she was living on the streets and that she didn't want to come home and that she felt like people didn't care about her," Candace said, noting she related the outpouring of concern from the Coast to her sister. "At the end of the conversation she was crying and hung up the phone and then I went on-line for 411 for her location and got an address that she was in Sannich and I phoned the cops right away and gave them the address that I had gotten."
Victoria Police located Christine and took her to the hospital where she is now getting treatment.
