The community of Gibsons is in need of a run organizer for this year's Terry Fox Run, to be held on Sunday, Sept. 14. The Terry Fox Foundation encourages groups or teams of individuals to volunteer together. Whether with a friend, a colleague or perhaps local service clubs, the foundation would be delighted to assist in setting up a committee of volunteers to oversee the event.
The run organizer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a Terry Fox community run, including: recruiting volunteers, setting up the route, seeking donated items, event administration and promotion. As a run organizer, you will be supported by the Terry Fox Foundation's provincial office and will communicate with the office on a regular basis, as you will be the main contact person for your community.
The time commitment required by this position varies. Planning a successful run usually begins in early summer and organizers should be finished with post-run administration by the end of September.
