Man stabbed in the face during altercation

For the second time in three days, Sunshine Coast RCMP are investigation an alleged altercation involving a knife.

Just after 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning, RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence located in the 5600 block of Sinku Drive in Sechelt.

"Police attended the residence and learned that the suspect had been drinking with two other men and was trying to evict the men from his residence, when the two men allegedly attacked the suspect," said Cpl. Steve Chubey. "The suspect stabbed one of the men in the face, narrowly missing his eye, in an attempt to ward off the attackers. As a result, police arrested all three men who were all highly intoxicated."

Chubey said the victim was escorted by police to St. Mary's Hospital to seek medical attention, and was subsequently lodged in Sechelt cells a short while after.

RCMP is investigating the 26-year-old victim of the stabbing and his 27-year-old counterpart for assault. The stabbing suspect, a 50-year-old Sechelt man, is being investigated for assault with a weapon.
