A man was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital in critical condition on March 16 following a shooting in his Sechelt residence.
Tung Vu Dinh, 46, has been charged with aggravated assault after turning himself in to police, and remains in custody with a bail hearing set for March 19 at Sechelt Provincial Court.
The shooting occurred Tuesday morning, March 16 at the victim’s residence on Fairway Avenue near Kinnikinnick Park.
A man who said he had been shot called first responders to the residence at about 6 a.m. Police and paramedics arrived to find the 36-year-old resident with a single gunshot wound in his abdomen, according to an RCMP release.
A half hour later, Dinh called 911 to report he was turning himself in at the Sechelt detachment. He was taken into custody and police seized a firearm.
According to the release, the victim has undergone surgery and as of March 16 remained in critical condition.
Sunshine Coast RCMP say the two men are known to each other and the shooting was isolated and not a random incident. The investigation is ongoing and there is no risk to the public.
