Gibsons' Sarah Loverock is safe for another week. The Canadian Idol contestant had a less than perfect performance on Monday night, gaining critical comments from three of the four judges.

Sass Jordan, Farley Flex and Jake Gold commented Loverock's rendition of "Life is a Highway" started in much too low a key for her voice but added she picked up the performance in the second half of the song.

However, judge Zack Werner, who has had much criticism for Love-rock until this point, praised her performance. "Tonight you stepped up on a serious level," he said after putting his issue of whether Loverock has "star power" to rest.

Monday's show had hometown footage of all the contenders, including Loverock, who spent time with her husband Dorean and children Davin, 2, and Ronan, 5.

Dorean had glowing comments for his wife.

"It's her birthright. She was born to sing," he said.

The first Top 10 show also boasted special guest Nelly Furtado who had some advice for Loverock.

"Play up your sex appeal a bit," she advised.

Loverock was the last contestant to find out if she was safe from elimination Tuesday night. With one spot left in the bottom three, it was down to Kati Durst and Loverock. When Durst was named the final contestant in the bottom three, Loverock looked extremely relieved, closing her eyes for a moment to take in the reality.

Durst, from Goderich, Ont., was the first Top 10 cast off. The final nine, including Loverock, will perform again on Monday night at 8 p.m. on CTV in a special Rolling Stones themed show. There is now a media ban on speaking to the remaining top nine contestants, so Coast Reporter could not speak to Loverock following Tuesday's results show. For more, see the opinion piece on page A10.
