Lots of fun in store at fun fest

Students are back in the halls and the leaves are changing, but that doesn't mean the fun can't continue.

Elphinstone Secondary School presents its third annual Fall Fun Fest on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The event, hosted by the grad class of 2009, is in honour of Trina Borley and Hanna Anderson, two awesome athletes, excellent students and amazing friends to so many who passed away in the summer of 2006 in a tragic car accident.

Their friends, determined to pull together, started the event the year that both of these girls would have graduated.

Appropriately, the event begins with the grads challenging the teachers of Elphi to a softball game at Ryan Dempster Field of Dreams at 4 p.m. then at 5 everyone will move over to the back lower field of school and the festivities will continue with everything from a fishing booth to pie a teacher, a dunk tank, entertainment provided by local youth, a raffle and a barbecue dinner.

Participants can join in on the games by donation and there will be a small cost for the barbecue. All proceeds from the event will go to the Trina and Hanna memorial bursary.
