A missing skier turned up safe and sound, but not before a search and rescue call-out was made last Saturday.

On Feb. 19, a 35-year-old male from Vancouver was skiing in Tetrahedron Provincial Park with his wife and friends. According to Sunshine Coast RCMP, the male became separated from his group and was later reported missing when his friends and other skiers were unable to locate him on their own.

Sunshine Coast Search and Rescue responded and conducted a search of the area for the missing skier during the night.

The missing male was an experienced skier with avalanche training and was carrying an avalanche beacon, extra clothing and food along with a GPS device.

With the assistance of a local helicopter company, police learned the missing skier had returned to the cabin where his wife and friends were staying at sometime during the night.
