Long boarder collides with car

A 19-year-old Madeira Park man is in critical condition after sustaining extensive injuries after colliding with a vehicle while long boarding in Madeira Park on Wednesday.

A 19-year-old Madeira Park man is in critical condition after sustaining extensive injuries after colliding with a vehicle while long boarding in Madeira Park on Wednesday.

Sunshine Coast RCMP and paramedics were dispatched to the collision at approximately 11 a.m. on June 5.

It is believed that the long boarder was heading southbound on the Sunshine Coast Highway and was attempting to make a right turn onto Madeira Park Road when he struck an eastbound vehicle head on, said Cpl. Steve Chubey in a news release. The long boarder sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital by air ambulance.

The integrated collision analysis reconstruction services (ICARS) has been contacted to investigate the collision.
