Logging truck tips over in Egmont

No injuries were reported

For at least the second time this year, a logging truck has lost its load on a Sunshine Coast roadway.

On May 2, a logging truck tipped over at the corner of Egmont Road and Cod Lane. RCMP said that the call came in at 1:49 p.m.

Photos show both the cab of the truck and the trailer tipped on their sides.

No injuries were reported, Cst. Karen Whitby of Sunshine Coast RCMP said in an email.

The logs landed in Danielle Silvey's yard. She was sitting in her living room with the door open when it happened and heard screeching tires and an "extremely loud crash that shook the house."

"This is not the first accident on this corner, it is however the first logging accident on this corner," Silvey said in a message to Coast Reporter. "These logs are in my front yard, feet from where my kids would play."

Egmont fire department was first on scene and were there "within minutes," said Silvey.

Silvey said that there have been multiple accidents at that corner and "way too many close calls with these logging trucks lately."

This is the second logging truck incident reported since the year began. In March, a logging truck trailer from Squamish-based JR Transport Ltd. tipped at the intersection of Highway 101 and North Road in Gibsons. The truck involved in the May 2 incident was from Triple T Trucking, said Silvey.
