Liberals elect new executive at AGM

The Powell River-Sunshine Coast B.C. Liberal Riding Association held its annual general meeting in Davis Bay on Sunday, Sept. 25 to elect its new executive team. Janet Smukowich, president of the B.C.

The Powell River-Sunshine Coast B.C. Liberal Riding Association held its annual general meeting in Davis Bay on Sunday, Sept. 25 to elect its new executive team.

Janet Smukowich, president of the B.C. Liberals Women's Network spoke to the AGM about the role of the Women's Network in welcoming women into public life and of her work around the province in helping women to take their first steps into political engagement.

Chris McNaughton of Powell River was elected president of the riding association, Patrick Muncaster of Gibsons was elected vice president-South Coast and Aaron Pinch was re-elected vice-president-North Coast. Chuck Halliday was re-elected riding treasurer, Barbara Lightfoot was re-elected membership chair and Bonnie Krakalovich was re-elected as secretary.

Members-at-large elected included: Mary Bittroff, Kevin Davie, Yvette Fleming, John Henderson, Fred Herbert, Garry Nohr, Brian Smith, Joke Polman-Tuin, Arlette Raaen, Ken White, Sam Alescio, Don Allan, Dave Formosa, Kevin Sigouin, and Debbie Dee.

McNaughton thanked the members of his team for their dedication and hard work in helping bring B.C. cabinet minister's to the riding and ideas to the new Christy Clark government.
