Legion reaches agreement in principle for sale

Sechelt

Sechelt Legion has reached an agreement in principle with a local investor looking to buy the property, but the prospective buyer won’t be named until the deal is final, according to Paul Lith, on the Legion’s sales team.

“The agreement won’t be official until all subjects are removed and the membership and the provincial arm of the Legion, BC Yukon, have given the agreement their blessing,” Lith told Coast Reporter this week.

“Until that time, there is no sale.”

The Sechelt Legion Branch No. 140 membership will meet on Nov. 6 to hear about the deal and vote on whether to accept the offer, but they won’t be told who the potential purchaser is.

“They will be told the purchase price and other necessary details and vote to accept or reject,” Lith said, noting BC/Yukon Command will also have to approve the deal for it to go through.

Even if the agreement is accepted by all parties, Lith said the Legion won’t likely be in any position to make an announcement until mid-November at the earliest.

“Unless the buyer tells me otherwise, we’ll respect the buyer’s privacy and the process itself until that time,” Lith added.
