Langdale terminal work means ferry schedule changes Oct. 3, 4

Passengers travelling to and from the lower Sunshine Coast's Langdale terminal Oct. 3 and 4 will sail on an amended schedule.

Passengers travelling to and from the lower Sunshine Coast's Langdale terminal Oct. 3 and 4 will sail on an amended schedule.

Langdale's primary berth will be closed for lower ramp and dock work those two days, meaning Route 3 service will operate out of the terminal's second berth, said a Sept. 7 service notice from BC Ferries. However, the secondary berth only allows for loading on ferries' lower decks. So, BC Ferries will run a two-ferry service (pulling the Queen of Oak Bay from the Departure Bay-Horseshoe Bay run to join the Queen of Surrey) for the two affected days, running ferries on the hour.

"Every sailing is reservable and customers are encouraged to book," said a Sept. 7 service notice.

The ferry service also warns that the terminal work will mean a possible increase in sound levels around the terminal, starting the night of Oct. 2, through to the morning of Oct. 5. The work will go 24 hours a day for the duration. "BC Ferries will work closely with the contractor to minimize the noise for our neighbours," said the notice.
