This year Sunshine Coast Tourism's annual general meeting promises to be extra special as the association's board of directors and members gather to review and celebrate the successes of 2010.

The signature tourism event takes place on Wednesday, June 22 starting at 5 p.m. It will be a fun and dynamic marketplace with booths representing everything from environmental stewardship and greening your business to farmers markets and sustainable event planning. This year also marks the first time that the event will be held in Powell River.

"Sunshine Coast Tourism is especially pleased to bring its third annual general meeting to Powell River," said Celia Robben, president of Sunshine Coast Tourism in a news release. "We encourage all our members and stakeholders from the entire Sunshine Coast to attend and network with their coastal counterparts on the beautiful grounds of the Herondell B&B and TerraCentric Outdoor Centre."

Attendees will enjoy delicious appetizers, a cash bar and an opportunity to hear from keynote speaker Dan Stefanson, executive director of the Tourism Abbotsford Society. Stefanson will speak directly to the challenges of working within a large and diverse destination marketing organization.

Herondell B&B is 18 km south of Powell River on Highway 101 and 12.5 km north of the Saltery Bay Ferry Terminal.

For lower Sunshine Coast members, the Malaspina Water Taxi is providing a round-trip boat shuttle service from Madeira Park to Saltery Bay for $30 per person. The boat will depart Madeira Park government dock at 4 p.m. with shuttle service from Saltery Bay to Herondell B&B and depart for the lower Coast at 8. Attendees must pre-pay to reserve a spot or alternatively visit bcferries.com for schedules.
