A 20-year-old Roberts Creek man is facing impaired driving charges after blowing three times over the legal limit after an accident in Roberts Creek last weekend.

According to Sunshine Coast RCMP, officers observed the suspect vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 101 near Jack Road on Nov. 13.

"The police officer observed that the vehicle was speeding, turned on emergency equipment and turned to stop the vehicle," said Cpl. Steve Chubey in a news release. "The suspect vehicle continued to travel at a high rate of speed and as a result, crashed into a ditch, flipped back out across the highway on its roof, where it came to rest in a dirt pile. The driver, who was not injured, was observed to be intoxicated and was subsequently arrested for impaired driving.

"Breath samples were received from the driver and as a result, the driver was found to be over three times the legal limit. RCMP is requesting criminal charges of impaired driving and drive while over .08."
