Highway work to finish on schedule

Work on Highway 101 in Selma Park should be completed on schedule and not result in any more long delays, according to project manager Jay Porter.

Work on Highway 101 in Selma Park should be completed on schedule and not result in any more long delays, according to project manager Jay Porter.

Lengthy delays were reported recently when crews were working on the bottom of Selma Park Road and Highway 101. The intersection needed to be used by detour traffic coming through the Selma Park community.

"The main problem was at the Selma Park intersection there, and they're through that for the most part so I don't see any more delays," Porter said. "For the most part, they should be out of there and they should be working along the shoulder and have the one lane going."

The detour route through the Selma Park area will continue until the project finishes May 31, but Porter notes it will run more smoothly with the work at the end of Selma Park Road out of the way.

If he expects any other long delays between now and the May 31 completion date, Porter said there will be announcements in the newspaper, on changeable message signs in the area and online at www.drivebc.ca.

The work being done on the highway will result in a 1.5-metre shoulder between Nestman Road and Selma Park Road and improved drainage capacity in the area.
