A motor vehicle accident on Highway 101 and Snodgrass Road that sent a Vancouver cyclist to hospital may end in charges for a Sunshine Coast woman.
Sunshine Coast RCMP responded to what Sgt. Russ Howard called a serious motor vehicle accident involving a 1989 Honda Civic and a cyclist on Sept. 1 at 1:20 p.m.
According to Howard, the Civic was travelling southbound on Highway 101 and making a left turn onto Snodgrass Road when it struck the 53-year-old female cyclist, who was travelling northbound on the highway.
"The Honda Civic turned left in front of the cyclist, who, unable to stop, crashed into the passenger side of the Honda Civic," Howard said.
The cyclist sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Vancouver hospital for treatment.
The occupants of the Honda Civic - the 53-year-old female driver, another adult woman and a young child - were not injured in the accident.
RCMP say charges of driving without due care are being contemplated against the driver; however, the matter is still under investigation and no charges had been laid as of press time Thursday afternoon.
