The bus stop in front of the Black Bean Café is changing.

Be prepared to brake at the Black Bean Café.

Changes to the bus stop beside the Gibsons café was part of an alternative transportation improvements contract awarded to N.B. Contracting for projects on Venture Way and Marine Drive at Town of Gibsons's Nov. 15 council meeting.

This includes path resurfacing, sidewalk improvements (including shifting a couple of sidewalk locations) and adding the shared-use bicycle symbol on Marine Drive.

Notably, the bus stop beside the Black Bean will move out onto the road and stop traffic instead of pulling in toward the curb.

The bus can’t get off the road properly, staff told council at the meeting, so instead the bus will stop in the middle of the road and stop the traffic. The changes will also allow for a couple more parking spots beside the café.

At Venture Way, the proposal includes a flashing crosswalk sign across Payne Road by the shopping complex.

N.B. Contracting’s bid was the lowest of three and came in at $263,620. The project is part of a larger provincial grant.
