The big rig parade in memory of the late Paul Gaudet rolled through Pender Harbour on Oct. 16. Dubbed the “Haul for Paul,” more than 50 vehicles of a wide range of sizes were part of the celebration of his life and work. Starting at Garden Bay Road and Highway 101, the route continued to and through Madeira Park, and along Lagoon, Francis Peninsula and Murdoch roads. Spectators lined the route to show their respect and appreciation despite wet weather conditions. A truck formerly used by Gaudet in his business led the procession followed by a truck driven by event organizer Lachlin Rand (pictured above). In a poster promoting the event on Facebook, Rand noted that the parade was being held to honour a request made by Gaudet. “The Pender community has lost one of our bright lights. Paul Gaudet ended his battle with cancer,” Rand wrote.
