The group had planned to host the annual event on Sept. 19. That proposed date was scheduled later in the year than normal, in anticipation of more relaxed COVID-19 protocols. The fair was last hosted on July 13, 2019.
In the email, interim association president Linda McMahon wrote: “While it is possible to run the event within the current public health restrictions, it has become clear that members of the community, ourselves included, are feeling increasingly uneasy about the increase in Coastal (COVID-19) cases and the Public Health Office’s statement that despite current restrictions, cases are not expected to drop significantly over the next month. The safety of our friends, family, and community members is our highest priority, especially those who are most vulnerable to the transmission of the virus.”
