A benefit concert, featuring beloved Coast entertainer Jean-Pierre Makosso, is set for Feb. 24 at the Living Faith Lutheran Church in Davis Bay.

Makosso will give a performance of dancing, singing and African storytelling, starting at 6:30 p.m. He will bring audiences the feeling of African love of life expressed in many different ways. The evening is a benefit event with a silent auction, with some of the items donated by artists from the Sunshine Coast. All monies collected at the event will help support Makosso's daughter Amanda and wife Yvette who are still living in The Congo.

Makosso has lived on the Sunshine Coast in Gibsons for the past five years. He teaches African culture, storytelling, dancing and singing on the Coast and throughout the province.

"I miss my family very much. I am trying to support them where they are, but I am also working towards bringing my family to the safety of Canada," he said. "The whole community is invited to come, meet me and enjoy the entertainment on Feb. 24."

Tickets, at $10, can be purchased by calling Connie at 604-886-9049 or Dee or Kai at 604-740-0239.
