One of the world's foremost interpreters of French piano music will perform at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, at the Raven's Cry Theatre, in the final concert of the Coast Recital Society's (CRS) 2004/05 season.
"Pascal Rogé is an immensely gifted artist one of the great exponents of French pianism," said CRS artistic director Frances Wainwright. Rogé has become known worldwide as an ambassador of French music. Both on the concert stage and in recording, his name is synonymous with the best playing of composers such as Francis Poulenc, Eric Satie, Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy, in particular. He made his recital debuts in London and Paris at the age of 17, and has since toured and recorded extensively. Rogé's program for the Coast Recital Society concert includes Fauré's Barcarolles 1 and 2 and Impromptus 2 and 3; Ravel's Sonatine; Satie's Two Gnossiennes; Poulenc's Three Pieces and Debussy's Preludes, Book Two. A few single tickets may be available for Sunday's performance. Call Mary Lea Bell at 604-886-0330 for ticket availability.
