Renovations are now complete at the Sunshine Coast Food Bank where about 1,000 bags of groceries are distributed to those in need monthly. Pictured top left are volunteers John and Shelley Grainger and David Thomson in the newly spruced up space. Pictured bottom left is volunteer Marilyn Heinrich in the bagging room. The food bank at 5667 Lamprey Lane is made up of two double-wide trailers that were gifted to the food bank in 1998. This year the building was showing serious wear and tear and was in need of new flooring, shelving, counter tops, paint and fixtures as well as a new heating system. Once the need was made public in April an army of volunteers and contributors stepped forward to make the renovation, estimated at about $14,000, possible. The Sunshine Coast Food Bank celebrated the amazing community support with a renovation celebration on Aug. 20.
