A 6.7 magnitude earthquake occurred to the west of Vancouver Island today (Friday) just before 1 p.m. and was felt in Sechelt.
People in Sechelt reported some minor shaking in buildings across town.
The quake was also felt in Squamish, Whistler and across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.
The quake was centred about 280 kilometres west of Vancouver and about 25 kilometres beneath the seabed.
