A Sechelt man was issued a driving prohibition after crashing his car into a utility pole on Highway 101 early Monday morning.
On Sept. 23 at approximately 12:07 a.m., Sunshine Coast RCMP received a call from the driver of a black 2000 Accura reporting that he had been involved in a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident in the 6800 block of the Sunshine Coast Highway.
"The driver, a 29-year-old Sechelt resident, reported losing control of his vehicle while taking a corner," said an RCMP news release. "The vehicle overturned and collided with a utility pole. The impact of the collision cut the pole into two pieces. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment."
Police detected the odour of alcohol on the driver's breath. The driver provided two samples of his breath on a roadside-screening device, which indicated a fail on both samples. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
