Following a coroners examination, Sunshine Coast RCMP determined that the death of 52-year-old David Matthew Seward of Gibsons to beaccidental.
On July 11 just after 8 p.m., the Gibsons Auxiliary Coast Guard unit were out conducting routine patrols and practice in the area when they were notified of a deceased male floating in the water approximately 400 metres off Gower Point.
"Sunshine Coast RCMP were notified and the Coast Guard hovercraft was called to assist with the retrieval of the body," said Cpl. Steve Chubey.
