Come one, come all to this year's Creek Daze celebrations, Saturday, Aug. 23.
The Higgledy Piggledy parade leaves the Roberts Creek Hall at 11:30 a.m. If you'd like to join in, decorate your bicycle, yourself, your friends, or get together with your neighbours and form a float. In the spirit of taking care of our earth, please consider a non-motorized vehicle for your entry in the parade.
There will be music at the pier from noon to 5 p.m. Performers include Deano, Sweet Cascadia, Skye Wallace, Olivia Kings-bury, Berni G & Frenz, The Knotty Dotters, Resin8 and BOAB. Down at the mandala there will also be vendors, artisans, food and kids' activities. Yoga by the Sea is offering a free yoga class on the pier at 1 p.m. The library book sale is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Legion will be open all day, with a barbecue for the whole family mid-day.
The Legion is also hosting a dance on Friday night, Aug. 22, with DJs Marlin and Deano. And, of course, don't miss the Creek Daze dance on Saturday with headliners Adham Shaikh and The Collective, back from last year by very popular demand. Shaikh is a Global Rhythms DJ whose music fuses sounds of the ancient and immediate, bringing the sensibility of the global village to the stage. For this show, Shaikh will be joined by Melissa Meretsky, Marty Carter, Jeff Holden and Shankar on Indian and Moroccan percussion. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 available at Gaia's Fair Trade Gifts, MELOmania and WindSong Gallery.
