The Coast will be saying, "welcome back" to cast and crew of A Beachcombers Christmas next weekend when they arrive with the film for a special pre-screening event.
While the movie is set to air on CBC Dec. 6 at 8 p.m., locals can enjoy seeing it on the big screen in Gibsons and Sechelt a week before anyone else.
"We really wanted to come back and do a screening on the Coast, and we wanted the proceeds from the event to go to a local charity which fits with the theme of the movie," said producer Nick Orchard.
The movie's storyline sees Dave Thomas, owner of Molly's Reach, organize an old-timers' hockey game for a Gibsons' charity in an attempt to save his reputation in the community.
Orchard has decided proceeds from the ticket sales to the screening of A Beachcombers Christmas will go to local food banks in Gibsons and Sechelt.
Tickets are $12 and are available at the food banks, Molly's Reach and wherever a poster for the movie is displayed.
"The Town of Gibsons and the District of Sechelt have donated money to pay the hard costs of the event, so every penny from ticket sales will go to the food banks," said Orchard.
The screenings are set for Saturday, Nov. 20, in Gibsons at Gibsons Cinema with 5:45 and 8:30 p.m. showings. In Sechelt the film will be shown in Chatelech Secondary School's theatre at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21.
Orchard and co-producer Jackson Davies as well as some other cast and crew from the production will be on hand at both events.
"We are not sure yet who else will be able to attend, but we are trying to pin that down now," said Orchard.
