The number of new weekly COVID-19 cases on the Sunshine Coast has dipped to 17 cases reported between Oct. 31 and Nov. 6.
The previous two weeks recorded the highest number of new cases on the Coast since the data became public in November 2020, with 35 cases reported between Oct. 24 and 30, and 27 cases the week before.
In the first week of November, Powell River reported a second week in a row of zero new cases, and Howe Sound area had 23 new cases.
Across the province, there were 555 new cases of COVID-19 recorded on Nov. 10, bringing the total count of active cases in B.C. to 4,321. Of that number, 404 people are in hospital and 117 are in intensive care.
Between Nov. 2 and 8, unvaccinated people accounted for 63.1 per cent of new COVID-19 cases, and from Oct. 26 to Nov. 8, the unvaccinated accounted for 70.8 per cent of hospitalizations.
As of Nov. 10, 90.5 per cent of British Columbians 12 or older (4,195,116 people) have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 86.4 per cent are double-vaccinated.
For Coasters 12 and older, 88 per cent have received their first jab of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 84 per cent had both jabs, as of Nov. 8.
The percentage of second doses given on the Coast increased slightly for the 12 to 17 and 18 to 49 age groups. For the youngest cohort, 82 per cent of youth 12 to 17 had one dose and 75 per cent had two. Among people 18 to 49, 83 per cent had their first dose, and 76 per cent had their second.
The 50-plus age category remains the most vaccinated age group on the Coast, with 91 per cent having received one dose and 89 per cent with both.
Vaccination statistics for those locals who have received a third dose, or booster shot, are not yet available.
