Coast Reporter has earned seven nominations in five different categories for this year's Ma Murray Community Newspaper Awards.

For the second year in a row, Coast Reporter is a finalist in the general excellence category, an award the newspaper won last year. Other nominations include three finalist spots in the ad design award, for sales manager Kevin Dergez and designers Ashley Doyle and Eric Pinfold. Associate publisher and Coast Life editor Cathie Roy is a finalist for the summer edition of Coast Life magazine in the special publications award, Dergez is a finalist for Horizons 2009 in the special section award, and classified sales supervisor Shelley Alleyne is once again up for the top classifieds award.

Overall, Glacier Media Group newspapers earned 22 out of the 87 total finalist nominations, including four nominations for general excellence.

"The talented team of newspaper professionals at Coast Reporter works very hard every week to publish the very best community newspaper that we can," said publisher Peter Kvarnstrom. "It is a tremendous honour to have our efforts recognized on the provincial stage."

The awards will be handed out on Saturday, April 10, at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond.
