Coast Reporter is pleased to welcome a new weekend photographer to the editorial staff and welcomes back a staff writer.
Justin Samson has been hired as the new weekend photographer and will be out in the community starting this weekend.
Samson graduated from Chatelech Secondary School in 2006. He spent time backpacking Central America and continued to feed his passion for photography. He recently returned from Victoria where he was mentored under Polish photographer Andrezj Kielbowicz. He is the official photographer for Mindil Beach Markets. One of his photos recently received a top prize in Zoom Magazines annual photo contest. He looks forward to providing Coast Reporter with a fresh perspective of life on the Sunshine Coast.
Christine Wood has returned to her position of full-time staff writer taking over from Jenny Wagler who left last month for a position with Business in Vancouver. Wood, who has worked on an off for Coast Reporter for several years, most recently as a freelance photographer/writer, will cover Sechelt municipal politics and well as school board and education.
