Sunshine Coast RCMP issued a statement on June 21 in support of National Indigenous Peoples Day.
“The Sunshine Coast RCMP Detachment would like to acknowledge the traditional lands and culture of the shíshálh Nation communities and the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nation,” the statement said.
“The RCMP is honoured to live and work within the traditional lands. We are committed to building a stronger relationship with the shíshálh Nation we serve as we strive to learn more of the history and customs of the shíshálh people.
“Through this partnership, our goal is to ensure safer communities and trust moving forward.”
