Coast chapter launches community champion program

In every community across B.C., kids want a chance to play sports. Unfortunately, some families simply can't afford the registration fees for their children to play in a season of sport.

In every community across B.C., kids want a chance to play sports. Unfortunately, some families simply can't afford the registration fees for their children to play in a season of sport.

To help with that effort, KidSport Sunshine Coast chapter launched its Community Champion program last week. This innovative program allows individuals, businesses and organizations to give kids from Port Mellon to Earls Cove a chance to play. This new program levels the playing field so all kids can play, learn and grow, to become the community leaders of tomorrow. Through a minimum annual donation of $2,000, KidSport Community Cham-pions are investing in a future where there are no financial barriers to sport.

"I am thrilled to be able to support the kids in our community," said Brent Rottluff, the first participant in the program. "Participating in sports can be very expensive, and I am glad to have the opportunity to help kids play local sports."

As a KidSport Community Champion, 100 per cent of Rottluff Drywall's contribution goes directly to the Sunshine Coast community. If you would like to become the next Com-munity Champion call 604-886-4227.

KidSport was established by Sport BC in 1993. There are now more than 173 community chapters across Canada that have raised more than $5 million, providing a season of sport to more than 45,000 Canadian children in 65 different sports.
