Sunshine Coast RCMP is continuing to investigate a single-vehicle accident that tied up traffic in Davis Bay for a short time on Wednesday morning.

On Sept. 25 at 8:10 a.m. RCMP attended the single-vehicle motor vehicle accident on Highway 101 in Davis Bay.

According to RCMP, a 2001 white Dodge Caravan driven by a 35-year-old female Sunshine Coast resident was proceeding south on Highway 101 at Davis Bay Road when the vehicle drove off the highway crossing the sidewalk and off the seawall onto the rocks below. Investigation revealed the driver might have fallen asleep.

Paramedics attended the scene and examined the driver who was uninjured. The highway was closed briefly and traffic rerouted to allow the vehicle to be removed from the rocks where it came to rest.

RCMP say charges are pending against the driver.
