Sunshine Coast RCMP have laid charges in the May 8 teen party near Gospel Rock. Police responded to the scene to find approximately 100 teenaged youths partying. They were able to disperse the crowd, but several windows of an RCMP vehicle were smashed while officers were occupied.
Nineteen-year-old Kelly Wilton is charged with mischief and is scheduled to appear in Sechelt provincial court Sept. 16.
Molly's Lane theft
RCMP say they have a suspect in a series of break-ins on March 28 on Molly's Lane in Gibsons. The suspect, who has not yet been charged, is said to be a Surrey resident. The suspect allegedly broke into Blue Magnolia, Heaven on Earth and Rosa's Emporium and stole $1,500 worth of goods.
Highway MVAs
Motor Vehicle Act charges are pending in the Feb. 9 fatal accident on Highway 101, according to Howard. The accident occurred when a southbound vehicle crossed into the northbound lane. The driver of the northbound vehicle, Ruth Gregory of Roberts Creek, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the southbound vehicle was airlifted to hospital in Vancouver with serious injuries. Howard said RCMP are recommending one charge of crossing a double solid line and a second charge of driving without due care and attention. Crown counsel must still approve the charges before they can be laid.
RCMP have recommended charges of impaired driving and dangerous driving to Crown counsel in the Feb. 19 five-car pile-up on Highway 101 in Roberts Creek, Howard said. The accident sent one woman to hospital.
RCMP are continuing to investigate the Feb. 28 single-vehicle crash on Highway 101 in which the driver of a pick-up truck lost control and hit a telephone pole. Police called in a canine search unit after the driver of the vehicle said he could not remember if he had passengers in the car with him.
Crown counsel Trevor Cockfield said he has sent back the RCMP's request for charges in all three motor vehicle accidents with a request for more information before charges can be sworn.
Robbery
Police are still looking for the suspect wanted in connection with the May 25 armed robbery of the Petro-Canada gas station on Gibsons Way. Sgt. Russ Howard said the investigation is ongoing. The suspect allegedly brandished a large knife and stole $350 in cash before fleeing on foot.
