Breaking News: Camera theft at Petro Canada

Sunshine Coast RCMP are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect who is pictured in this surveillance video.

Canoe save

On Saturday, Oct. 10, RCMP along with paramedics were called to a report of a capsized canoe near Ocean Beach Esplanade.

The canoe, with three occupants, was approximately 100 metres off shore. All three occupants of the canoe made it safely to shore with the help of local residents, who paddled and swam out to assist.

"RCMP would like to thank all the local residents, nearby boaters and bystanders who were there to assist and support the capsized individuals by helping to tow their canoe to shore, offering warm blankets and a soothing cup of tea," said RCMP in a news release. "Thankfully, there were no injuries and paramedics attended to ensure all parties involved were unharmed from the incident."

On Saturday, Oct. 10, just after 3 p.m., RCMP members attended to a collision on Highway 101 in Sechelt just went of Shorncliffe Avenue. According to police, a motorcyclist, travelling east, was cut off by an oncoming vehicle turning left. The motorcyclist collided with the front drivers' side of the oncoming vehicle. The motorcyclist was taken to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver of the offending vehicle was charged with crossing a double solid line when unsafe and operating a motor vehicle without a drivers' licence.

Highway 101 was closed for approximately 20 minutes.

RCMP appreciated the patience of the motorist's waiting for the highway to clear and offers thanks to the bystanders who provided assistance to the motorcyclist.
