BC Ferries’ 50 per cent vehicle fare discount came into effect this week for off-peak sailings on all routes – including Route 3 from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale – and will continue until Dec. 19.
For Route 3, the discount applies to Monday through Thursday sailings from Horse-shoe Bay at 11:20 a.m., 1:20 p.m., 7:25 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.
Discounted Saturdays sailings on Route 3 are at 1:20 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7:25 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.
On the Saltery Bay to Earls Cove route, the discount applies Monday through Thursday at 11:20 a.m., 3:25 p.m. and 9 p.m. and Saturday at 3:25 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
The discount applies fleetwide to 3,000 sailings – 25 per cent of major route sailings and more than 30 per cent of paid minor route sailings, according to BC Ferries.
“BC Ferries is providing discount promotions to gauge customers’ response to a flexible pricing model we are planning to roll out in 2017,” BC Ferries CEO and president Mike Corrigan said in a statement. “In the future, we plan to move to a pricing model tied to time of day travel, so promotions like this one will introduce customers to fare flexibility and discounts when they travel on off-peak sailings.”
Another pricing promotion is planned for next spring.
