BC Ferries extending Langdale ‘L’ run suspension

Ferry service points to 'expected crewing challenges'

BC Ferries is extending its Langdale ‘L’ run suspension to March 31.

The modified schedule introduced Jan. 28 sees the Queen of Cowichan remaining exclusively on the Langdale-Horseshoe Bay route instead of swapping with a Nanaimo ferry in the evenings for a timely commuter service.

This means that what was the 5:30 p.m. sailing leaving from Horseshoe Bay, runs at 6:35 p.m. – pushing back the evening schedule. The number of sailings remains the same.

BC Ferries pointed to “expected crewing challenges in the months ahead” and “an effort to provide reliable ferry service” as reasons for the continued schedule modification in a Feb. 23 service notice.
