A fine memorial service was held for Walter McPhee at Cooper's Green on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010.

Rescue boats came from Unit 14, Gibsons, and Unit 61, Pender Harbour, as well as the two vessels belonging to Unit 12, Halfmoon Bay.

The hall was full as assembled family and friends heard numerous speakers recall stories, and make tributes, both serious and humorous. After the service the new to Unit 12 rigid hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) was named the Lewis-McPhee and was dedicated to service on the water. The new vessel was named for Don Lewis and McPhee, both having been valued members of the Halfmoon Bay Unit and will be used on the inside waters of Sechelt Inlet and vicinity. The Rev. James Erb officiated at both the service and the dedication. After the dedication the vessels, with family aboard, left from the Halfmoon Bay government wharf to spread McPhee's ashes on Strait of Georgia waters accompanied by the pipes of John Webb.
