The Sunshine Coast will host two very fascinating and far-travelled artists for two weeks later this month.
The Rock'N Art Gallery in Gibsons will host carvers Patrick Sephani and Passmore Mupindiko from July 15 to 31.
The carvers are currently exhibiting their stunning stone sculptures in several art shows in England and will attend their annual Zimsculpt exhibit at Vancouver's Van-dusen Botanical Gardens following their stay on the Sunshine Coast.
"We are thrilled that we could secure these two Zim-babwean artists to teach a sculpting camp for kids and a weekend workshop for adults with local sculptor Don Watson," said Birgit Breuer from the Rock'N Art Gallery.
Participants will learn step by step how to create a sculpture: sketching, drawing, clay modelling, stone sculpting with the teacher's help and writing of artist statements and biography with the optional sale of their created pieces at a charity and live carving event. Breuer has also invited established First Nations master carvers to exchange their various sculpting techniques and cultures during these events.
The camp will have three sessions for kids and adults, running July 18 to 31. For more information on times and schedules, call the gallery at 604-886-6591 or see www.rocknartgallery.blogspot.com.
