The gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. See www.sunshinecoastartscouncil.com for more.

Hot ticket

This Friday and Saturday, March 25 and 26, is your last chance to hustle to the Heritage Playhouse to see Life Skills (Advanced), the most intelligent, funny and professionally performed theatre production of the season. The cast of 10 actors, including director Dave Hurtubise, shows great stage presence and impeccable timing delivering their funny lines. The artwork and video in each scene are eye catching, and backstage crew are on the ball to make the production flow. It’s a hit for local playwright David King, who also performs as the enervated interviewer of a jargon-spewing workshop facilitator (Wanda Nowicki). Collins concert

The mercurial, five times Juno-nominated, seven times Canadian Folk Music Awards-winning mando-maestro Andrew Collins finds himself at the epicentre of Canada’s burgeoning acoustic / roots music scene. He has co-founded noteworthy Canadian bands like the Creaking String Quartet, the Foggy Hogtown Boys and, more recently, the Andrew Collins Trio. Collins is comfortable on mandolin, fiddle, guitar, mandola and mandocello and works with his beloved trio: fellow string guru Mike Mezzatesta, whose versatility and mastery shine through on guitar, mandolin, fiddle and mandola, and in-the-pocket James McEleney, holding it down on the bass, mandocello and vocals. The group is showcasing a popular collision of bluegrass, folk, jazz, classical, and swing. Their recording And It Was Good is a labour of love inspired by the late Oliver Schroer. Concert is on Wednesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons. Tickets are $18 advance, $20 at the door. See www.heritageplayhouse.com
