The annual young people’s exhibition at the Sunshine Coast Arts Council’s (SCAC) Doris Crowston Gallery in Sechelt this year has a theme of forest conservation. Young artists from Davis Bay Elementary, Langdale Elementary, Roberts Creek Elementary, Spider Elementary, and West Sechelt Elementary attended online workshops organized by SCAC and produced hundreds of works as a result. They learned about using collage and tree twigs in some of their pieces depicting forest birds, and explored phytograms – immersing plants in a solution and then applying them to photographic paper to create sepia-toned, natural art works. The exhibition runs until May 23.
