World tour comes to Gibsons

The Tetrahedron Outdoor Club is once again bringing the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour to the Sunshine Coast.

The Tetrahedron Outdoor Club is once again bringing the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour to the Sunshine Coast. This annual event features award-winning films and audience favorites from approximately 300 films entered in the annual festival in Banff. This year's tour features a collection of the most inspiring and thought-provoking active, environmental and adventure mountain films. Travelling from remote landscapes and cultures to up close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports, the 2008/09 World Tour is an exhilarating and provocative exploration of the mountain world. The Gibsons event will be held at Elphinstone Secondary School on Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12, available at Alpha Adventures, Halfmoon Sea Kayaks, Roberts Creek General Store and Spin Cycles. This is the primary fundraising event for the Tetrahedron Outdoor Club. Monies raised go to support club activities, including maintenance of four public cabins in Tetrahedron Provincial Park. Funds have also been used for purchasing emergency rescue equipment and contributing to local youth activities. The club has devoted time and resources to the establishment of the Dakota Ridge Winter Recreation area, including the launch of a Jackrabbits cross-country ski program for kids and hosting last year's hugely successful Dakota Ridge Winter Carnival. The club also continues to work towards a road maintenance agreement with the Sunshine Coast Regional District that will ensure continued public access to Tetrahedron Park.
