Woodland Christmas and Winter Lights return

Botanical Garden
botanical garden

Come enjoy the glittery lights at Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden’s seasonal celebrations – Woodland Christmas on Sunday, Dec. 10, and Winter Lights continuing Dec. 10 to 12, and 17 to 19. All these events are by donation at the entry.

This Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m., come to Woodland Christmas for the sparkly lights, music by DJ Little D, laughter, families and friends – the finest festivities. Share in stories from Sophie and Grandma June, encourage your children to make a twigs-n-sprigs Christmas tree, check the lovely tree (with thanks to Jardine de Flores) all decorated with hand-made, nature-inspired ornaments. Purchase some holiday baking or preserves, even medlar jelly from the Garden’s own tree, lovingly made by resident elves. Santa Claus himself, eyes a-twinkle, will ho-ho-ho and hear the children’s wishes.

The Winter Lights display, sponsored by Sunshine Coast Credit Union, continues Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:30 to 8 p.m. until Christmas. Enjoy the magic of a walk through bright lights along a forest path – the Rhododendron Garden – with special pleasures each night.

Dec. 11, Swanson’s Ready-Mix brings their rotating light-show truck. On Dec. 18, Suncoast Phoenix Choir joins the festivities with a special Christmas concert and family-friendly sing-along in the Pavilion. Other nights, enjoy the lights then roast marshmallows over the campfire.

Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden is at 5941 Mason Road in West Sechelt. Admission for either event is by donation, $5 to $10 suggested for adults, $1 to $2 for children. Food bank non-perishable items are welcome.
